A day in Chloe’s digital
life
INTRODUCTION
A day in my digital life seamlessly blends academia and compassion, beginning with early mornings spent in scrolling through social media, to university coursework via my laptop. As I transition into my role as a casual disability support worker, technology becomes a bridge of care—coordinating schedules, documenting support, and communicating with clients through specialised apps. Balancing these responsibilities digitally demands meticulous time management and adaptability, with my devices ensuring I stay connected, efficient, and ready to navigate the dynamic demands of both student life and work life.
MORNING ROUTINE
- Begin my day around 8am to the sound of my alarms off the clock app on my phone
- I like to have breakfast and usually scroll through my phone, seeing updates on social media and chatting with friends
COMMUTE
- Once I leave to go to work I use the Apple Maps app usually to take me to my job for the day as I am a disability support worker and each day I am not at the same place
- Driving to my shift I am using the app Spotify to play my current favourite songs.
THROUGH THE DAY
- To begin my shift I use an app on my phone called support mate, this is where I record all the progress of our day out.
- Sometimes I will use my phone to purchase some lunch throughout the day
- Other apps I use while on shift include:
UNIVERSITY
- When studying at university I use a wide variety of apps but the main apps I constantly use are Microsoft word, Microsoft excel, PowerPoints.
- To stay up to date with my university work I use our main app called Canvas which has all our assessment and modules upload.
- To communicate whilst studying as my course is all online I am constantly using the app zoom for my lectures and classes.
EVENING
- To wind down in the evening I often use my phone or tv to watch some of my favourite shows whilst cooking dinner or completing uni work
- My most used app like many other university students is TikTok. I often use this app in the afternoon to help give me a break.
CONCLUSION
Technology helps me manage my busy life as a student and a disability support worker. From my morning scroll through social media to my university classes and then supporting clients, my devices are always by my side. They help me stay organized, complete my tasks, and find time to relax and connect with others. Balancing school and work takes careful planning, but with the right apps and tools, I can handle it all. At the end of the day, as I relax and think about what I've done, I appreciate how technology helps me juggle my responsibilities smoothly.
